From Hart of Dixie to Friday Night Lights, Scott Porter has been on many star-studded shows — but which of his former costars is he hoping will make an appearance on Netflix’s Ginny & Georgia?

“Cress Williams and I worked together on Friday Night Lights. Then we worked together on Hart of Dixie. Then I worked with Brianne Howey on Hart of Dixie — and now we’re working together here,” Porter, 54, exclusively told Us Weekly. “So maybe Cress should come along over here for the third time.”

Porter changed his mind, however, when he realized the show doesn’t “need any more good looking guys.”

“I’m already competing with [Nathan Mitchell‘s] Zion and with [Raymond Ablack‘s] Joe,” he quipped. “But I have been so fortunate to work with so many — not only incredibly gifted actors — but incredible humans. I am still friends with Rachel [Bilson], still friends with Wilson [Bethel]. Willie and I still talk a lot to this day.”

What about Friday Night Lights? “Zach Gilford and I are [close]. I would love it if Zach would swing by. Come on, we can get him on the show for a minute. Zach can play anything,” Porter added. “But Gaius Charles and I are still good friends [too]. The list goes on and on. So anybody we could get from those shows.”

Before Ginny & Georgia, Porter played our favorite small town attorney George Tucker on Hart of Dixie. The CW series, which ran from 2011 to 2015, featured George in a love triangle with Zoe (Bilson) and Lemon (Jaime King), but Zoe also had a romance with Wade (Bethel).

“George was a mess — especially relationship wise,” Porter joked. “He was bouncing all over the place. He wasn’t sure what he was looking for. He was in love with Zoe one minute. He was in love with [Wade’s ex-wife] Tansy the next. There’s nothing wrong with it. He was trying to find himself and grow into himself. So I think if you get Paul and George together, it’s going to be a disaster.”

Porter previously weighed in on Us’ pitch about Bilson, 43, being cast as a new love interest for his character on the Netflix hit, saying, “I think Paul is in such a place where he can’t even think about a relationship right now. Just the tumult that he has been through — just the high dryer cycle he’s been tumbling through right now.”

He continued: “His head is spinning and his career is on the line. I think Paul is going to focus up a little bit. I don’t think he’s going to have the ability, the heart or the brain power to be able to forge a new relationship.”

Porter originally won Us over as Jason Street on Friday Night Lights, which aired on NBC from 2006 to 2011 and followed a high school football team in a fictional Texas town.

“I would love to come back — of course — but only if it really fits the story that they are trying to tell,” Porter told Us about the upcoming reboot, which was announced in December 2024. “I have nothing but trust and love for [executive producer] Peter Berg and [showrunner] Jason Katims and the whole creative team that’s coming back. If they ask, then 100 percent, but if not, I’m so satisfied with the way Jason’s story ended.”

For now, however, Porter is focused on season 4 of Ginny & Georgia. Despite Paul’s rough time on the show, Porter has remained hopeful that things will turn around soon.

“There’s parts of Paul we still don’t understand and we haven’t seen. So his resilience and how he rebounds from this in season 4, I’d love to see some of that. I’d love to see a little bit of the old Paul,” he noted. “We’ve heard how good he is at his job. He was elected mayor before Georgia ever walked into his life. I’d love to see that fight, that wit, that charm come back a little bit in season 4.”

Ginny & Georgia is currently streaming on Netflix.
