A small aircraft crashed in the San Diego, California, area of Murphy Canyon early on Thursday morning, the San Diego police department confirmed.
The incident was reported around 3.47am local time.
“We’re responding to a plane crash in the area of Sculpin Street and Santo Road. Please avoid the area to allow emergency crews to work safely,” said the San Diego police department in a statement. “More information will be shared as it becomes available.”
The incident log indicated multiple vehicles were on fire, but there were no immediate reports on potential victims. Road closures, including diverting drivers on northbound Interstate 15, were reported.
The Federal Aviation Administration reported a Cessna 550 aircraft crashed at about 3.45am local time near the Montgomery-Gibbs executive airport, with an unknown number of people on board. The FAA and the National Transportation Safety Board are investigating the crash.
