Swords, they have their ways. Capcom have shown off a little more of their upcoming demon-slaying samurai ’em up, Onimusha: Way Of The Sword. And it is about, if I had to guess, parry windows. Come see the trailer below.
Onimusha has a long and storied history, although all I really know about it is that French actor Jean Reno was in one of them. You’d need Nic to tell you more. Me, I look at the trailer and think, ah, it’s another game at this evening’s Game Fest that stars a sword man felling cursed beasts who wear ornate armour rendered in a palette of charcoal, slate and Lanarkshire sky.
This Onimusha reboot was announced in December last year. The old games were the feudal Japanese counterparts to Resident Evil, not entire a hack ‘n’ slash game but not precisely survival horror either. The first two in the series recently got some spitshine, and Nic called that re-release of Onimusha 2 “a crisp remaster of a charming relic”. You’ll have to click the “Nic to tell you more” link above to check whether I made that quote up.
Capcom are quite busy these days, working on both this and some new Resident Evil games behind the scenes.
